What is subhealth?
People get sick, therefore there is a difference between sickness and well-being. The healthy aren’t sick and the sick aren’t healthy. Healthy means a strong physical body and a happy, peaceful mind. Illness is a harmful state of the body. In modern days we often see that although nothing seems wrong with a patient’s body, yet they feel tired and weak, they don’t have an appetite, they suffer insomnia. We don’t have evidence to call him ill, yet to call him healthy would not be quite right either. This is when a new concept appears: subhealth.
Modern medical research has found that there are many causes to subhealth, such as overworking, physical exhaustion, aging, chronic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease and other chronic diseases, as well as post-surgery recovery, low points in the body’s biological cycles and so on.
“Subhealth” can be tuned back to health by the adjustment of body and heart. Up to now, treatment of stellate ganglion block is the most efficient method of treating “subhealth”. The specific method of treatment is by injecting medication on the nerve node of the larynx, which causes the patient to feel a lock in the throat, and the eyelid on the corresponding side will close for 15-30 minutes. It allows the over excited sympathetic nervous system to calm down, improves circulation, strengthens immunity, strengthens the prevention system, prevents infection, adjusts the blood pressure, treats constipation, improves sleep and increases one’s appetite. Most of in-bed patients can see big improvement after only 1-2 sessions of treatment.
Mental Health is the most Important Health
WHO’s definition of health includes three aspects: body, mind and social skills. Not only should the body feel well, and the mind be healthy, but a person should also adapt well to society. In other words, a healthy person should not only be able to eat, sleep, speak, think and be illness-free, but also be able to make a living in society and get along with the people around. Such person can be considered truly healthy. The reason for such definition is that today’s world is very different from that one of the past. With today’s highly developed technology biomedical sciences are developing quickly; it has become easier to treat infections and physical wounds;therefore, our problems are becoming fewer, but their demands of brain power are increasing. In other words, the need for knowledge is higher and stricter and more complex. Thus, the problems regarding brain power have increased. This highly developed technological society, on the one hand calls for teamwork, but on the other brings heavy competition, making personal relationships more complex, raising the bar for social skills. Therefore, someone who lacks these skills or who does not perform well enough as to adapt into society is not seen as a healthy person in this modern age.
Body, mind and social skills are closely connected. Body damage usually means biological discomforts such as headaches, blindness, deafness, insomnia and so on.
The Stage of Subhealth
The stage of subhealth is also known as “the third stage”. Most people would think that there are only two different stages: healthy and ill. However, new medical research shows that there is a third stage that is in between the former two. The World Health Organization’s definition of health is: “the perfect stage of physical, mental and social abilities and not only an illness-free body.” According to this definition, researchers have found that less than 2/3 of people are healthy, and more than 1/3 of people are in the third stage of subhealth. These people show symptoms such as: loss of appetite, easily angered, suffer headaches, lack sleep etc. These symptoms affect seriously a person’s life. When facing these problems, some people see the doctor or take medication, while others are left clueless on what to do, which gives them more stress and burdens……Therefore, studying the symptoms of subhealth and how to change it, leading people to a better lifestyle and educating them on scientific living is critical to improving their quality of life.
